HOW TO CLEAN YOUR KITCHEN SINK

Keep your kitchen sinks looking fresh, bright, and beautiful.

With smooth, stick-free interiors, VIGO kitchen sinks are crafted for simple everyday cleaning.

Once you’ve cleared your sink of dishes, use your pull-down kitchen faucet to rinse the entire sink at least every day. About once a week, your undermount sink or farmhouse sink will likely require a deeper clean. When cleaning the kitchen sink, it’s important to consider the kitchen sink material to ensure you’re using the right cleaning products for effective cleaning and long-lasting beauty. Whether you have a stainless steel or Matte Stone™  kitchen sink, follow these steps to ensure your kitchen workstation stays bright and clean.

Cleaning Your Stainless Steel Sink

To start, rinse your stainless steel sink with water. A pull-down kitchen faucet with an extendable hose, such as The VIGO Edison spray kitchen faucet, makes it quick and easy to rinse the kitchen sink until it’s clean.

Next, coat your stainless steel kitchen sink with a layer of baking soda. The baking soda is strong enough to remove stains, grease, and odors without damaging the stainless steel finish.

Use a soft scrub brush to massage the baking soda into the stainless sink, moving in the direction of the steel grain. It’s best to start with the sides of the basin and work your way down, pushing any grime into the direction of the drain. For hard to reach places, like the drain hole, you can use a toothbrush.

Without rinsing out the kitchen sink with faucet, spray undiluted vinegar over the remaining baking soda residue. Within a few minutes, the two substances will begin to fizz. Once the fizzing comes to an end, it’s time to rinse the sink thoroughly.

Immediately dry the kitchen or laundry sink using a microfiber or lint-free cloth; for extra sheen, apply a few drops of olive oil to the cloth.

Cleaning Your Matte Stone™ Sink

It’s easy to keep your Matte Stone™ kitchen sink clean. For everyday maintenance, the white composite sink features a smooth interior that easily rinses clean and can be wiped down using gentle household cleaners.

Due to its matte white finish, the outside of the apron sink or farmhouse kitchen sink is the easiest to clean. You can use 400-grit sandpaper to remove any stains or small cracks without altering the finish of the sink by buffing the affected area in a circular motion until the mark vanishes.

The inside of the sink has a glossy finish, which requires slightly more care. For light stains, fill the bottom of the sink with hot water and a cap full of bleach. Allow the product to set for about 15 minutes before rinsing the entire sink. A mild cleaning product can be used to scrub stains away.

Cleaning Your Kitchen Sink Accessories

To keep your kitchen workstation clean, it’s always a good idea to scrub your sponge holder, dish brush, and sink mat. To save time and energy, opt for products that are dishwasher-safe such as The VIGO Silicone Protective Kitchen Sink Bottom Grid. Use soapy water to clean your kitchen faucet and kitchen sink accessories, like deck plate and soap dispenser. For a deeper clean, add in a splash of vinegar.
